The transfer portal has become a key aspect of the recruiting process for several programs. Some coaches dive headfirst into recruiting players out of the portal while others look for specific plug-and-play type of prospects.
This year, 247Sports has released a Top 10 of the teams who have done the best job working the transfer portal. Three B1G teams have earned recognition through the end of the Early Signing Period.
Michigan State, Indiana and Purdue all landed in the Top 10 after successful work in the transfer portal. There could still be more additions for those programs, as well. Here’s a look at the complete Top 10 from 247Sports:
- USF Bulls
- Michigan State Spartans
- Indiana Hoosiers
- Louisville Cardinals
- Kansas Jayhawks
- Jackson State Tigers (FCS)
- San Jose State Spartans
- Purdue Boilermakers
- FAU Owls
- Arkansas Razorbacks
Michigan State and Purdue have both received commitments from 4 players through the transfer portal. Indiana has landed 7.
It’s been an interesting recruiting process with so many players entering the transfer portal during the offseason. While plenty of names have jumped into the portal in the month since the end of the regular season, there will likely be even more once spring ball concludes.
How much will the rankings change before the start of the season? It’ll be something worth keeping an eye on.
