Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker has made a decision on the Outback Bowl.

The star defensive back announced on Monday that he will not be playing in the Outback Bowl game against Arkansas. Brisker made his decision public with a post on Twitter. He joins linebackers Brandon Smith and Ellis Brooks to opt out of the game.

“I will be forgoing our bowl game and I will be focusing on preparing for the 2022 NFL Draft,” Brisker wrote. “I’ve been waiting for this all my life and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. I will always be a Nittany Lion!”

Brisker played in all 12 games for Penn State during the 2021 season and proved to be one of the top defensive players at his position. He finished the year with 64 tackles, 5 pass break-ups and 2 interceptions.

Brisker was a key member of a Penn State defense that was one of the best in the B1G, particularly in the red zone. Unfortunately, a stout defensive unit wasn’t enough to push the Nittany Lions into the contender category this year in the B1G.

Penn State closed the season with a 7-5 record.

The Nittany Lions will officially close out the 2021 campaign in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1.
