B1G Legend, Ohio State kicker passes away at age 85

Ohio State kicker Don Sutherin has passed away at 85 years old.
He kicked the game-winning field goal at the 1958 Rose Bowl. He also played defensive back for the Buckeyes, as well.
The Buckeyes beat the Oregon Ducks in that game by a score of 10-7 thanks to Sutherin. Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch posted about the B1G legend’s passing on Tuesday afternoon from his Twitter account.

While Sutherin is known around the B1G, he also had a Hall of Fame Career in the CFL as a kicker and a defensive back. His professional career started with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1958. He then played in the NFL for the New York Giants after being drafted by them in the 1959 NFL Draft. Sutherin also had a stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1959-1960.
After playing in the NFL, he returned to the CFL to play for the Tiger-Cats from 1960-1966. Other teams he played for in the CFL included the Ottawa Rough Riders (1967-1969) and the Toronto Argonauts (1970).
Sutherin passed away at Mercy Hospital in Canton, Ohio on Tuesday.
