Report: Ex-Ohio State, Miami QB retiring from football

Former Ohio State, Miami and UNLV quarterback Tate Martell is reportedly calling it a career.
Joe Arrigo of Franchise Sports Media is reporting that Martell has decided to retire from football and start pursuing business ventures. The decision comes after transferring out of Ohio State and Miami and eventually landing closer to home at UNLV.
Martell is a former 4-star quarterback prospect who ranked as the No. 2 dual-threat QB in the 2017 recruiting class. He spent two seasons with the Buckeyes before transferring to Miami — a decision made after Justin Fields left Georgia for Ohio State.

Martell was never able to secure a starting job at any of his three stops at the college level. The most playing time he was came in 2018 in Columbus, when he completed 23-of-28 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown for the Buckeyes.
He also rushed for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns that year.
After his two years at Ohio State, Martell transferred to Miami, where he spent another two seasons. He threw just 3 passes with the Hurricanes, completing 1 for 7 yards. In his lone year at UNLV, Martell completed 2 passes for 6 yards.
With the COVID-19 waiver, Martell would’ve had one season of eligibility remaining at UNLV, but it sounds like he’s going to move on to his next venture.
