After 5 seasons at Penn State, Des Holmes is off to the Pac-12.

Holmes announced his transfer commitment to Arizona State Wednesday night on his Twitter account.

A Norristown, Pennsylvania native and Cardinal O’Hara product, Holmes signed with Penn State as part of the Nittany Lions’ 2017 recruiting class. Holmes redshirted his first year on campus. Over the next 4 seasons, Holmes appeared in 32 games for Penn State, including 10 of 12 regular-season games in 2021. Holmes entered the NCAA transfer portal in December before the Nittany Lions played Arkansas in the Outback Bowl.

Holmes has played 4 seasons and used a redshirt, but an NCAA blanket waiver allows him to play a sixth season of college football. The NCAA did not count 2020 against players’ eligibility due to the circumstances of the season during the pandemic.
