“Just want to thank Buckeye Nation for supporting me and making Columbus feel like home,” Ruggles wrote. “After long discussion and thought with my family, I have decided to declare for the 2023 draft… RUN IT BACK!”

Ruggles had a solid season in 2021 for the Buckeyes, connecting on 20-of-21 field goal attempts during the year. He was also successful on all 74 extra point tries in his first season at Ohio State.

The Ohio State kicker was also responsible for drilling a game-winning kick from 19 yards out to lift the Buckeyes over Utah in the Rose Bowl Game for a 48-45 win.

Ruggles transferred into Ohio State after spending the previous four seasons at North Carolina. His best year for the Tar Heels came in 2019, when he knocked home 19-of-27 field goals and converted all 45 PAT attempts.

During his five-year career in college, Ruggles has been successful on 39-of-48 field goal attempts. He’s never missed a PAT in 122 tries.
