A member of Maryland’s 2022 recruiting class is already showing what he can do on the field. In the Polynesian Bowl from the weekend, 4-star linebacker and Terps signee Jaishawn Barham had an outstanding performance.
Barham was credited with a critical interception and 2 tackles for loss in Team Makai’s 17-3 victory over Team Mauka. That pick was taken all the way back to the end zone for a touchdown, proving to be a game-changing play.
When the game to a close, Barham was named the Defensive MVP of the 2022 Polynesian Bowl. In attendance to witness the strong performance was current Terrapins quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

Barham is a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker out of District Heights, Mary. According to 247Sports’ he ranks as the No. 9 linebacker in the 2022 class and is one of the Top 200 prospects overall for the cycle.
During the recruiting process, Barham received nearly two dozen offers and picked Maryland over Penn State, Oklahoma, Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others.
Maryland is getting a top-notch linebacker who could come into College Park and contribute immediately, based on his performance in the Polynesian Bowl. That would be a great thing for Mike Locksley’s squad, which ranked 13th in the B1G in scoring defense in 2021.
