Pump the brakes? Tom Brady reportedly ‘not close’ to making decision on retirement

The rumors about Tom Brady’s retirement might have been reported prematurely. Though ESPN’s Adam Schefter cited sources that the Tampa Bay quarterback is calling it a career, Brady himself hasn’t made the decision.
Jeff Howe of The Athletic is reporting that Brady called the Buccaneers on Saturday afternoon to tell them he’s “not even close” to making a decision about his future. There’s still a possibility he returns for the 2022 season with the franchise.

Brady has played 22 seasons in the NFL, 20 with the New England Patriots and 2 with the Buccaneers. He’s won 7 Super Bowl titles in his career, 6 of which came in New England. He led Tampa Bay to a world title in 2020, his first year with the franchise.
Brady has also been recognized as a 5-time Super Bowl MVP, a 3-time NFL MVP, a 2-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year and a 15-time Pro Bowl selection. If he does step down, he’ll be the most decorated quarterback to ever play the game.
It should be an interesting few days — or possibly weeks — keeping an eye on Brady.
