Michigan received some good news Wednesday evening with the reports that Jim Harbaugh is returning to Ann Arbor.

After interviewing the Minnesota Vikings and flirting with a return to the NFL, Harbaugh instead elected to return to the Wolverines following his best season with the program in 2021. His return had members of Michigan’s program “elated” at his decision, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Now that Harbaugh has reportedly made his mind up, the Vikings are also setting their sights on their first choice. According to Chad Graff with The Athletic, Minnesota is expected to extend an offer to Los Angeles Rams OC Kevin O’Connell with the hiring expected to be finalized after the Super Bowl.

However, what is interesting is a report from Jon Krawczynski with The Athletic who reports that Minnesota did not extend an offer to Harbaugh on Wednesday. While Harbaugh returning to Michigan is a good sign for the Wolverines, it is fair to wonder who made the first decision during the interview process.
