3 B1G stars headline semifinalists for 2022 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award

Playing in the post in the B1G is not for the weak of heart. Just ask the players from a deep and ultra-talented group in the conference this season.
On Friday, the 10 semifinalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award were announced with 3 stars out of the B1G making the cut. That group is Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn, Purdue’s Zach Edey, and Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson. The award is given to the top center in the country.

Of that group, Cockburn particularly stands out and ranks inside the top-10 nationally in both points per game and rebounds per game. The center for the Illini is averaging 22.1 points (6th nationally) and 11.6 rebounds (5th nationally).
Dickinson leads Michigan with 17.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He is also averaging 2.2 assists and shooting 60% from the floor.
Edey is averaging 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds for Purdue. Along with averaging 1.2 blocks per game, Edey leads the nation by shooting 70% from the floor.
