Micah Parsons took home an NFL award Thursday evening following a dramatic rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys.
The former Penn State star was honored as the 2021 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year. Even more impressive, Parsons captured the award in unanimous fashion after serving as a key playmaker for the Dallas defense.
“This is all incredible…I couldn’t be anymore thankful,” said Parsons. “I’m always big about where I come from, so shout out to Harrisburg, PA, this is for the city.”

The Cowboys took Parsons No. 12 during the 2021 NFL Draft and he immediately made an impact. Parsons led the Cowboys in sacks (13), TFL (20), QB hits (30), tied for the team lead in forced fumbles (3) and finished second on the team with 84 total tackles.
In addition to his DROY honor, Parsons finished 2nd in Defensive Player of the Year voting to TJ Watt and was named a first-team All-Pro. Quite a start to his NFL career for the dynamic Nittany Lion.
