Art Briles’ return to college football did not last long. According to multiple reports, Briles will no longer be the offensive coordinator at FCS program Grambling State.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report that Briles would not be the program’s OC. Chris Vannini of The Athletic added that Briles resigned from the job.

Grambling State confirmed it was hiring Briles Thursday of last week. Instead of making a formal announcement, the school pointed media inquiries to KTAL’s televised sit-down interview with Briles.
Briles had been out of college football since his 2016 firing at Baylor after an investigation regarding multiple accusations of sexual assault involving football players. In recent years, Briles has coached for a Texas high school and an Italian professional team.
Grambling State and head coach Hue Jackson were widely criticized for hiring Briles. Jackson, through his foundation, released a statement defending his decision to hire Briles. To be a full-time assistant coach, the hiring of Briles needed to be confirmed by a 16-member University of Louisiana System board, which meets in late April.
