Starting Maryland OL announces he’s done with football

Mike Minter’s body is done with football.
That’s what the Maryland offensive lineman told the Severna Park (Md.) Voice in a Q&A. As a result, the Terps will be without an expected starter next year.
Minter had one more year of eligibility left, but after graduating in the spring, he announced that he’ll head into the real world.
Here was part of the Q&A:
“This was my last season. I’m done playing football and I’m actually going to start in the real world now. My body’s been through hell and back the past four years, and I’m looking at a lot of job offers now. Before the season, I thought maybe [I’d play another year], but my body’s done, and in my mind I’m ready to start real life. I could have graduated earlier, but I want to play this season.”
He said in the piece that he didn’t have any regrets about playing football. Minter earned a scholarship in 2015 after joining the program as a walk-on in 2013.
In his four years in College Park, Minter started 14 games. Eleven of those games were at left guard in 2016.
Minter suffered a season-ending injuries in 2013 and 2015. He could’ve potentially had two more years of eligibility left had he wanted to apply for a medical redshirt after missing all but three games in 2015.
Instead, Minter will leave a hole at left guard.
Maryland will still return three starters on its offensive line.
