Ohio State will continue to have questions about health as it heads into its NCAA Tournament opener against Loyola-Chicago. Chris Holtmann was hoping the week-long break might be enough time to get back to full strength, but that might not be the case.
Holtmann told reporters on Wednesday that both Kyle Young and Zed Key will be “game-time decisions” for Friday’s Round of 64 matchup. Both players missed last week’s B1G Tournament game against Penn State.
The Buckeyes were a one-and-done team in the B1G Tournament, falling 71-68 to the Nittany Lions.
“As far as our health right now, I think we’re getting healthier. I have no update on Kyle or Zed, those will be game-time decisions right now,” Holtmann said, per Eleven Warriors. “We’ll know more here, honestly, in a couple days. I don’t have an answer for you right now.”
Young is still in concussion protocol and Key is dealing with an ankle injury. The Buckeyes would like to have both guys back on the floor Friday after dropping 3 of their last 4 games.
Both Young and Key are averaging more than 8 points and 4 rebounds per game for the Buckeyes this season. Tip-off against Loyola-Chicago is set for 12:15 p.m. ET on CBS.
