Terrell Owens didn’t want to miss the opportunity to see his alma mater in action in March Madness. The former NFL wide receiver made the trip to Pittsburgh to see Chattanooga take on Illinois with a chance to pull off a major upset.

Owens, who played college football, basketball and ran track at Chattanooga, was in attendance for Friday night’s first-round matchup. He wasn’t just there to watch, either. He decided to get involved with the cheerleading aspect of the game.

With his Mocs leading at halftime, Owens borrowed some pom poms to participate in some of the sideline cheers. Everyone seemed to be having a pretty good time:

That’s going to be a pretty awesome memory for everyone involved.

Owens, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, was a member of Chattanooga’s NCAA Tournament team in 1995. After a strong athletic career in college, the receiver went on to become a third-round pick in the 1996 NFL Draft.
