Former Nebraska defender Pheldarius Payne announces transfer destination

Pheldarius Payne has a new home. The Nebraska transfer outside linebacker announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Monday night.

Payne shared the news on Twitter.

Payne returns to his home state. The Suffolk, Virginia native began his college football career at Lackawanna Community College before transferring to Nebraska, where he enrolled ahead of the 2020 season.

In 2 seasons with the Huskers, Payne appeared in 18 total games. This past season, Payne recorded 19 tackles and 2 sacks. In his Nebraska career, Payne logged 40 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 passes defended.

Payne entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal on Feb. 28, 2022, prior to the start of Nebraska’s spring practice.
