Michigan State is working on its recruiting class for 2023, and the Spartans picked up an in-state commitment Wednesday evening.

That commitment came from Johnathan Slack, an offensive lineman out of Martin Luther King High School in Detroit. He shared his commitment on Twitter:

According to 247 Sports, Slack is a 3-star prospect, the No. 21 interior OL in the country and the No. 4 prospect out of Michigan for the cycle. Slack is listed at 6-foot-3 and 280 lbs. and held offers from a number of Power 5 programs, including Tennessee, Arizona State, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Oregon.

As things currently stand for the class of 2023, Michigan State holds the fifth-best recruiting class in the B1G. That group is also ranked 13th nationally for the cycle.

Michigan State’s recruiting class is currently headlined by 4-star DL Andrew Depaepe out of Iowa. The Spartans will try to build off of a fantastic 2021 campaign and Peach Bowl win via the recruiting trail.
