USC wide receivers coach Dave Nichol has died. He was 45.
The school released a statement on Friday evening stating Nichol’s passing. According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, he had been battling cancer prior to his death.
“We are heartbroken and devastated,” said USC head coach Lincoln Riley. “Dave was such a tremendous human being and a fantastic football coach. He absolutely loved the game and constantly poured his heart and soul into his teams. He will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. We, as a program, look forward to playing and coaching for him as we move forward.”

Nichol had been hired in December 2021 to be the wide receivers coach at USC. He was also the associate head coach for the Trojans. He had spent the previous two seasons at Mississippi State.
Nichol also had stops with Washington State, East Carolina, Arizona and Texas Tech. He was a former wide receiver for the Red Raiders, as well.
