Shaheen Holloway – head coach of this year’s March Madness darling Saint Peter’s – is expected to leave the Peacocks for a head coaching job in the Big East.
According to Jerry Carino with the Asbury Park Press & Gannett in New Jersey, Holloway is reportedly finalizing a deal to take the head coaching position at Seton Hall. Carino reports Holloway’s hiring is expected to be announced no later than Wednesday now that the Peacocks are out of the NCAA Tournament.
No surprise, but nonetheless: Shaheen Holloway is expected to finalize terms in the coming days to become Seton Hall’s next head coach. He’ll be introduced no later than Wednesday.

While some coaches have turned a hot March Madness at a mid-major into a major job, that is not the full story here. Holloway was a 4-year star at Seton Hall and a 3-time All-Big East selection.
After his playing days were over, Holloway started his coaching days as an assistant on Kevin Willard’s Iona staff. He eventually followed Willard to Seton Hall with Holloway spending 2010-18 as an assistant for Willard and the Pirates. The job at Seton Hall opened up this offseason with Willard taking the head coaching job at Maryland.
In 4 seasons at Saint Peter’s, Holloway has led the Peacocks to a 64-57 overall record and guided the team as the first-ever 15-seed to make the Elite 8. Saint Peter’s Cinderella ride came to an end Sunday with a loss to UNC.
