Michigan’s Mike Sainristil is going through a position change and a jersey number swap this offseason.
Sainristil, who spent last season as a wide receiver, is listed as both a defensive back and a wide receiver for Michigan’s spring game on Saturday. Because of some of the losses in secondary, the Wolverines could use some depth at the position.
Not only is Sainristil trying out a new position, he’s got a new number. The sophomore will wear No. 0 for the 2022 campaign, according to Angelique Chengelis of the Detroit News.
Last year, Sainristil wore No. 5.

Sainristil ended the 2021 season with 22 catches for 312 yards and 2 touchdowns. His best performance last fall came in Michigan’s loss to Michigan State, catching 3 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Michigan is holding its spring game on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
