Penn State gets commitment from 4-star QB out of Florida

Penn State has landed its next major quarterback.

Friday, the Nittany Lions picked up a verbal commitment from 4-star quarterback Marcus Stokes, a native of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He had received more than a dozen offers on the recruiting front, picking Penn State over Indiana, Pitt, Utah, Virginia Tech and others.

“107% committed, the don’t call it happy valley for no reason,” Stokes wrote on Twitter.

Stokes is listed as a 6-foot-2, 185-pound gunslinger. Last season, Stokes led Nease High School to a 9-4 record while throwing for 2,672 yards and 22 touchdowns with only 9 interceptions. He also rushed for 496 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Stokes becomes the ninth prospect in the 2023 recruiting class to verbally commit to Penn State. He joins a class that ranks No. 4 nationally and currently sits atop the B1G.
