Illinois basketball just wrapped up one of the biggest recruitments for the program in recent history.

After announcing his commitment to the Illini last week, 5-star point guard Skyy Clark made it official and signed with Illinois on Wednesday. He is the 4th high school signee for the Illini for the class of 2022.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 200 lbs., Clark is rated the No. 5 PG in the country and the No. 27 overall prospect for the cycle by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Illinois landed Clark’s commitment over Kentucky and Auburn, among others.

“We are thrilled to welcome one of the most talented players in the country to our program in Skyy Clark,” head coach Brad Underwood said via statement Wednesday. “He is an extremely athletic, versatile, scoring guard with great physical size at his position. He can play both guard spots but is at his best when the ball is in his hands because of his ball-handling and decision-making. He also has a work ethic that is second to none. Skyy is committed to the game; he lives in the gym and is driven by winning.

“Coach Tim Anderson deserves a great deal of credit in this recruitment. Skyy is a terrific person with a tight-knit, supportive family surrounding him. Tim has a longstanding relationship with the Clarks, and that was instrumental in his choosing Illinois.”

With Clark on board, the Illini hold the No. 8 recruiting class in the country for 2022. Three of Illinois’ signees rank as top-75 prospects for the cycle with two ranking inside the top-55 players in the country.
