Former Maryland defensive back Will Likely is already making big plays in the USFL.
On Sunday, Likely hauled in an interception in his USFL debut with the Houston Gamblers. He picked off Michigan Panthers and former Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch.
Likely’s pick helped secure a 17-0 advantage for the Gamblers heading into halftime. Houston was able to hold off Michigan to claim a 17-12 victory in the season opener.

Likely had an outstanding career at Maryland from 2013-16. He appeared in 43 career games with the Terrapins and was responsible for 229 tackles, 29 pass break-ups, 7 interceptions and 5 forced fumbles.
Likely’s best season in College Park came in 2014, when he racked up a career-best 83 tackles and 6 picks. He was a first-team All-B1G defensive back and specialist following the 2015 season.
In 2017, Likely was undrafted in the NFL Draft. He’s bounced around the NFL and the CFL but is already making his presence felt in the USFL.
