Former Purdue guard announces transfer to A-SUN program

Isaiah Thompson is leaving West Lafayette and heading to the Sunshine State.
Friday, the former Purdue guard announced on Instagram that he has committed to Florida Gulf Coast (FGCU). He spent three seasons with the Boilermakers and will have two years of eligibility remaining because of the COVID-19 waiver from the NCAA.

Thompson will join former Penn State head coach Pat Hobbs in Fort Myers. Hobbs was recently named the next head basketball coach of the Eagles.
Last season, Thompson rotated between being a starter and coming off the bench for Purdue. He started in 20 of the team’s 37 games, averaging 4.2 points, 1 rebound and 0.9 assists per game. The Boilermakers ranked inside the AP Top 10 all season long.
Thompson has been a major contributor on the floor during his three seasons at Purdue. He played in 96 career games and started 25 times. He leaves West Lafayette having averaged 4.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and just under 1 assist per game.
He scored a career best 5.6 points per game as a freshman during the 2019-20 season and posted career highs for rebounds (1.4) and assists (1.0) in 2020-21.
