‘We love you, man’: Former Buckeye Johnnie Dixon pays tribute to Dwayne Haskins after first USFL TD

Johnnie Dixon III had something special to say after scoring his first career touchdown in the USFL. He wanted to pay tribute to his former teammate Dwayne Haskins Jr.

Sunday, Dixon hauled in his first career touchdown reception as a member of the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL. After making the catch, he sent out a message to Haskins, who tragically passed away earlier this month after being struck by a vehicle in South Florida.

“I love you, Dwayne!” Dixon shouted after the touchdown. “Rest in Peace to my brother Dwayne, baby. We love you, man.”

Dixon was a teammate of Haskins while at Ohio State, suiting up for the Buckeyes from 2014-18. He was a member of the 2018 squad in which Haskins rewrote the passing record book at Ohio State and in the B1G.

Dixon was on the receiving end of 42 passes for 669 yards and 8 touchdowns that year. Haskins threw for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns while completing 70% of his passes. The two helped lead the Buckeyes to a 13-1 season, a B1G championship and a Rose Bowl victory.
