Ohio State has added an FCS opponent to its 2023 home schedule.

Monday, Youngstown State announced that it will head to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. Ohio State had previously been scheduled to play San Jose State on that date, but Kevin Noon of BuckeyeScoop.com reported the game was “mutually canceled.”

The Buckeyes already have the other two nonconference opponents set for that season, playing Western Kentucky on Sept. 16 and heading to South Bend to play Notre Dame on Sept. 23.

Youngstown State’s trip to Columbus will mark the first time since 2013 Ohio State has hosted an FCS opponent. The last time came on Sept. 21, 2013, when the Buckeyes took on Florida A&M.

The Buckeyes defeated the Rattlers 76-0.
