One of college football’s most historic venues is getting a facelift.
Beaver Stadium will undergo “extensive” renovations as part of Penn State’s 20-year facilities master plan. The timeframe of the renovations will be determined at a time after the initial five years.
The stadium will get a significant increase in chairback seating, new concessions locations and food options, new restrooms, wider concourses and additional premium seating options.
Beaver Stadium hasn’t expanded since 2001. It remains to be seen what the stadium’s capacity will be after the renovations are complete.
The capacity of the stadium will remain at least 100,000 seats, according to the release. Upgrades to The Lasch Football Building and improvements to the tailgating experience are also part of Penn State’s 20-year master plan.
More details about the 20-year master plan will be released at a public presentation on campus on Monday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
