Name, Image and Likeness opportunities have shifted the landscape of college athletics. In particular, NIL has certainly played a role in recruiting players out of high school and via the transfer portal.

On Thursday, an interesting story surfaced out of Miami. According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Hurricanes guard Isaiah Wong will enter the transfer portal Friday if his NIL package is not increased.

According to Adam Papas – Wong’s agent – the star guard wants a NIL package to reflect that Wong “was a leader of an Elite 8 team.”

Billionaire booster John Ruiz has since indicated that his company, LifeWallet, will not renegotiate:

While NIL has certainly been used as talent acquisition funds across the country, it remains to be seen if the NCAA will have anything to say about what appears to be a blatant “pay for play” agreement.
