The B1G may not have ended this year’s NFL Draft with the most selections (that honor once again went to the SEC), but 2022 was a big year for several programs in the conference. The tally of 48 selections resulted in multiple squads from the league having their best draft in over five years.
Before jumping into the teams who enjoyed their best NFL Draft in over five seasons, there were two other significant accomplishments.
For the first time since 2019, Rutgers had a player selected in the NFL Draft. Wide receiver Bo Melton and running back Isaih Pacheco were both picked. From the B1G West, Wisconsin had five selections, its most since 2018.
Here were the teams that enjoyed their best NFL Draft in a while:
- Penn State — 8 picks (best since 1996 — 10)
- Michigan State – 4 picks (best since 2016 — 5)
- Illinois – 3 picks (best since 2016 — 3)
- Nebraska — 3 picks (best since 2016 — 4)
- Purdue — 3 picks (best since 2008 — 3)
The B1G ended the NFL Draft with 13 of 14 teams having a player selected. Northwestern was the only one without a pick this year. Of the 13 teams to have a player taken, 12 had multiple draft picks.
