Wisconsin is adding some depth to its secondary.

Friday, the Badgers earned a commitment from former Utah safety Kamo’i Latu, who spent two seasons with the Utes before entering the transfer portal. He appeared in all 19 games Utah played during his first two years with the program.

Latu made his announcement with a post on Twitter. He will head to Madison with three years of eligibility to use.

Latu is a 6-foot, 195-pound safety who made a big impact for the Utes during the 2021 season. He was credited with 19 tackles last fall, including 11 solo stops. The freshman also tallied 3 pass break-ups.

Latu was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after a stellar performance against USC. In that game, he piled up 10 tackles and had a pass break-up in a 42-26 victory over the Trojans.

In his first season at Utah, Latu played in 5 games and was credited with 4 tackles.

Wisconsin is coming off a 9-4 campaign in 2021. The Badgers fell short of winning the B1G West and are hoping to climb back to the top of the division this season.
