Dick Vitale announces he will be honored during 2022 ESPYs with fiery motivational speech

Dick Vitale knows a thing or two about perseverance. The longtime broadcaster has battled multiple health issues, including cancer over the past year.
That is why it comes as no surprise that Vitale will be the recipient of this year’s Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the 2022 ESPYs. The award is given annually to “a deserving member of the sporting world who has overcome great obstacles through perseverance and determination.”
Vitale reacted to the news of the honor by sharing a motivational tip of the day on Wednesday centered around the idea of none other than perseverance.
“Motivational tip of the day, it’s about one word: perseverance,” said Vitale. “Don’t ask me to spell it, but I tell ya: perseverance. It is so key in life…when things get tough, you’ve got to fight and you’ve got to battle.”
