There’s been talks of eliminating divisions in college football for conferences around the country. Now, it looks like there may be some substance to those talks according to Bryan Fischer of Athlon Sports.
A source told Fischer that the Division 1 Council is planning on voting on the idea of eliminating divisions from college football sometime next week. This would allow for conferences like the ACC, SEC, Pac-12, MWC, B1G, and others to decide on whether or not they will have divisions.
Fischer broke the news from his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.
Source says the D1 Council will indeed vote next week on eliminiating the division requirements for football conference title games, paving the way for ACC, B1G, Pac-12, MWC, etc. to eliminate divisions in 2023.

This could change the entire landscape of college football if the vote happens, and goes through. We’ll see if any more details are released about the vote.
