Former Rutgers football captain returns to athletic department in administration role

Former Rutgers football team captain Shawn Tucker has taken a position with his alma mater. The school released a statement on the addition of Tucker on Monday morning.
Per the release, Tucker will serve as the vice president for athletics development at Rutgers University Foundation. He takes that position after serving as the associate vice president and director of athletics at New Jersey University.
“I’m beyond thrilled to be back On the Banks,” Tucker said in a prepared statement. “There’s nothing like coming home. We accomplished great feats at NJCU and transformed our athletics department into one of the fastest growing Division III programs in the country. I’m looking forward to this wonderful opportunity bringing back the leadership and management experience I’ve gained over the past four years.”
Tucker was a wide receiver at Rutgers from 2002-06 and was a co-captain on the 11-2 squad in 2006. During his career with the Scarlet Knights, he caught 115 passes for 1,559 yards and 4 touchdowns.
“Shawn was a huge contributor to our team’s success in the early 2000s, and I know that he’ll be a huge contributor now,” said head football coach Greg Schiano. “We have ambitious goals for our football program, and I know that’s true of every sport at Rutgers.”
