A Mentor (Ohio) product, Potter was a 4-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite in the class of 2019. He signed with OSU over 23 other scholarship offers. In 3 seasons with the Buckeyes, Potter saw limited playing time.
In 2019, as a freshman, Potter logged 2 total tackles in 3 appearances, allowing him to take a redshirt. In his second year, Potter made 4 appearances, recording 1 tackle. Potter’s Ohio State bio shows 1 appearance for the 2021 season, with no other statistics recorded.
Ohio State’s online roster considered Potter a junior entering the 2022 season. He can use the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for 2020 to extend his college football eligibility through the 2024 season.
