Northwestern’s hot streak on the recruiting streak continued into the weekend.

Sunday, the Wildcats earned a verbal pledge from Texas linebacker Justin Cryer, a member of the 2023 class. He’s latest to join a growing recruiting class for Pat Fitzgerald, which has seen a flurry of commitments since the end of spring football.

Cryer becomes the 14th member of Northwestern’s 2023 class and the eighth prospect to commit in the month of May. The linebacker made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

Cryer, listed at 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, does not currently have any rankings per the 247Sports composite. He did, however, receive 20 offers on the recruiting front.

Northwestern nudged out Arkansas, Arizona State, Florida State and Georgia Tech at the Power 5 level. Several other Group of 5 programs extended an offer, as well.

At Royal High School in 2021, Cryer racked up 103 tackles with 19 stops for loss. He was also credited with 5 sacks. Below are some of his highlights from last fall:

Northwestern’s 2023 recruiting class currently ranks in the Top 10 nationally.
