Report: Ohio State parts ways with head baseball coach Greg Beals

Ohio State’s baseball program will reportedly begin a new era when the 2023 season arrives.
Monday, Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball reported that Ohio State is parting ways with head coach Greg Beals after 12 seasons with the program. The Buckeyes finished with a 21-30 mark in 2022, including an 8-14 record in B1G play.
That record was not good enough for the Buckeyes to earn a spot in the B1G Tournament this season. They had missed out each of the past two years.

Over the course of his 12 years in Columbus, Beals led Ohio State to a 345-288-1 record. That included 8 B1G Tournament appearances and 3 NCAA Regional trips.
Ohio State’s best year came in 2016, finishing with a 44-20-1 mark. The Buckeyes also enjoyed 8 winning seasons during that stretch.
Prior to taking the job in Columbus, Beals served as the head coach at Ball State from 2003-10. The Cardinals were 243-202, reaching the MAC Tournament all but 1 season and earning 1 trip to the NCAA Regionals.
Beals is an Ohio native and played college baseball at Kent State. That’s also where he began his coaching career, working as an assistant for the Golden Flashes from 1994-2002.
