Nebraska continues to add via transfer, lands pledge from ex-Texas WR

Another player from the NCAA transfer portal is heading to Lincoln.
Former Texas wide receiver Marcus Washington has announced his commitment to Nebraska, the latest in a flurry of players to join the Huskers since the conclusion of the 2021 campaign. He posted his decision on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Washington will rejoin former teammate Casey Thompson, who also spent last season with the Longhorns before transferring to Nebraska. Other recent additions include Ochaun Mathis (DE, TCU) and Devin Drew (DT, Texas Tech).

Washington spent 3 seasons in Austin and played in 31 career games with 8 starts. He adds immediate depth and experience to the Huskers’ wide receiver room.
Washington’s most productive season with Texas came during the 2021 season. He hauled in 18 receptions for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Longhorns. In the previous 2 years combined, Washington was responsible for 89 yards and a touchdown on 7 catches.
As a high school recruit, Washington was a 4-star member of the 2019 class, ranking as one of the Top 150 overall prospects. The Missouri native was the nation’s No. 24 receiver for the cycle.
Because of a redshirt year at Texas and the COVID-19 waiver from the NCAA, Washington will have 3 years to use while at Nebraska.
The Huskers finished the 2021 campaign with a 3-9 record. They’ll be entering the fifth year under Scott Frost in 2022, opening the season in Ireland against Northwestern.
