Last year’s meeting was the first time the two programs met in the regular season. The previous two matchups came in bowl games. Auburn defeated Penn State in the Capital One Bowl in 2003 (13-9). The only other meeting was a 43-14 victory for the Nittany Lions in the Outback Bowl in 1996.
Penn State leads the all-time series 2-1.
