Former Kentucky football head coach Hal Mumme found himself in handcuffs early Friday morning for criminal trespassing and resisting arrest. WKYT reported the news.
Per the report, Mumme was arrested at the Hyatt in downtown Lexington. He was asked to leave but refused to do so. It was also reported that he got physical during the attempted arrest.
Mumme is scheduled to appear in court on Friday afternoon. No other details were provided.
Mumme was the head coach at Kentucky from 1997-2000. The Wildcats posted a 20-26 record in that time and appeared in a pair of bowl games (1998 and 1999). UK had 3 victories over ranked opponents during that time.
Mumme’s tenure at Kentucky came to an end when he resigned because of alleged NCAA recruiting violations. He later had a stop at New Mexico State as the head coach (2005-08). The Aggies were 11-38 in those four seasons.
