2023 DL still considering Illinois, Rutgers announcement date for commitment

A 3-star defensive lineman in the 2023 recruiting class has set a date for his commitment announcement.
Dante Barone, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound lineman out of New Jersey, is set to make his announcement on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. He is still considering several schools for his commitment, including Illinois and Rutgers out of the B1G.
Other schools still in the mix are Boston College, Syracuse, Kent State, Army, Air Force and Temple at the FBS level. There are other FCS programs still in the fold, as well.

Barone ranks as the No. 19 overall prospect out of New Jersey for the 2023 cycle and is the No. 111 defensive lineman, per 247Sports composite rankings. He has received 11 offers on the recruiting front.
Rutgers currently has 5 players committed in the 2023 class while Illinois has 4 verbal pledges. The Scarlet Knights rank No. 38 nationally while the Illini come in at No. 45.
