Illinois will be headed to New York City during the upcoming college basketball season.
Stadium’s Jeff Goodman is reporting that the Fighting Illini will be one of four teams participating in this year’s Jimmy V Classic. Illinois will play Texas at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The other matchup will feature Duke and Iowa, meaning two B1G squads will be in New York for this year’s event. Tip-off times were not announced.

Illinois finished last season with a 23-10 record and won a share of the B1G regular season title. The Fighting Illini reached the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, as well.
Texas was 22-12 last year and was also defeated in the Round of 32.
