Minnesota continues to turn in the work on the recruiting trail, and another in-state prospect committed heading into the weekend.

This time, the commitment came from Sam Peters, a tight end out of Maple Grove High School in Osseo, Minnesota. The Gophers offered Peters early in June and he took an official visit to the program on Friday.

“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Minnesota,” Peters wrote in an announcement on Twitter. “…A special thanks to Coach P.J. Fleck and Coach Greg Harbaugh for recognizing my development and giving me this incredible opportunity. I’m excited to get to work, and I will give it 100% every day.”

Peters is listed at 6-foot-4 and 225 lbs. He has gone unranked by the composite rankings, but 247 Sports rates Peters as a 3-star prospect and the No. 7 player out of Minnesota. He is also the No. 50 TE nationally for the class of 2023.

With his commitment, Fleck and the Gophers now hold pledges from 6 of the top-10 in-state prospects for the class of 2023. Minnesota’s class also ranks 23rd nationally in the team rankings with 10 total commitments.
