Former Michigan basketball standout Trey Burke has a new NBA team. He was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday per Andrew Kahn of Mlive.
Burke played in Ann Arbor from 2011-2012. He averaged 5.1 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists as a member of the Mavericks’ rotation in 2021. He was also a reliable free throw shooter, making 87% of his attempts from the charity stripe. The deal was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Burke’s 5.1 points average was his lowest since joining the Mavericks in 2019 after a brief stint with the Philadelphia 76ers. Boban Marjanovic, Marquise Chriss, Sterling Brown, and the No. 26 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft are also going to Houston with the trade. The Mavericks received C Christian Wood.
The former Michigan guard won’t be leaving the state of Texas, but will still have to get used to his new home.
