Keegan Murray didn’t have to wait long to have his name called during the 2022 NBA Draft in Brooklyn on Thursday.
The Iowa forward saw Duke’s Paolo Banchero (Orlando Magic), Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder), and Auburn’s Jabari Smith Jr. (Houston Rockets) go with the first 3 picks of the draft. That left it to the Sacramento Kings with the 4th overall pick, which they used to select Murray.

Murray is the 9th Iowa player to be taken in the 1st round during the NBA Draft’s modern era, and the first since Ricky Davis was selected 21th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 1998.
In the 2021-22 season, he averaged 23.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, shooting 55.4 percent from the field. Following the regular season, he was named to the B1G’s all-conference first team.
