Purdue is working to improve its standing for the class of 2023, and the Boilermakers picked up another in-state prospect Saturday afternoon.

This time, the pledge comes from Will Heldt, a 6-foot-6 and 240 lb. defender out of Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. Heldt has played linebacker and is listed as an Edge prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.

Heldt committed to the in-state Boilermakers over offers B1G offers from Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern and a host of others from around the country.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Heldt is a 3-star prospect and is rated the No. 81 Edge prospect nationally. He is also the No. 11 overall prospect out of Indiana for the class of 2023.

Heldt’s commitment brings Purdue’s class up to 10 commitments for the cycle. That group currently includes 3 in-state recruits and is ranked 27th nationally by the team recruiting rankings. That ranking is a big jump after the Boilermakers finished 2022 with the 47th recruiting class nationally.
