Dick Vitale is one of the most beloved figures in sports broadcasting and will be this year’s recipient of the Jimmy V Award at the 2022 ESPYS. Recently, Vitale took to social media to react to the big news of the week.

That news, of course, is USC and UCLA jumping the Pac-12 ship and heading to the B1G. The two programs were quickly introduced to the B1G with competition in the conference beginning during the 2024-25 academic calendar.

In addressing the move, Vitale questioned Friday evening if it was “fair” to athletes in the (mostly) non-revenue generating sports outside of football and basketball. “Does anybody care?” questioned Vitale while claiming “Cash Cash $$$ baby” is all that really matters (in terms of these decisions).

It will be interesting to see how the B1G works around the travel concerns of having programs located on both coasts. To this point, the public comments from university and conference officials have all been positive regarding the move to expand into California.
