Report: California Regents will discuss litigation over UCLA’s move to the B1G
By Paul Harvey
Published:
UCLA has announced its intentions to leave the Pac-12 for the B1G alongside USC. The two programs officially announced those moves at the end of June with the Bruins and Trojans set to begin play in the B1G during the 2024-25 academic year.
However, Jon Wilner of the Wilner Hotline reported Tuesday that the University of California Board of Regents has introduced a discussion around the move. That discussion will look at UCLA’s departure in terms of potential litigation.
The discussion will be during a closed session on Thursday, July 21. The Board of Regents is required to share with the public when discussions involving litigation arise.
“Matters involving litigation, when discussion in open session concerning those matters would adversely affect, or be detrimental to, the public interest.”
There is also the key note that “There is no requirement for a decision from the University of California Board of Regents or the Office of the President.”

It will be interesting to see what exactly becomes of these discussions.
