Brett Yormark is stepping into his first season as the new commissioner of the Big 12. Yormark is also taking part in his first media days as commissioner this week.

As expected, Yormark was asked about and addressed the topic of the day which is conference realignment. Texas and Oklahoma’s decision to leave for the SEC came last year but the topic was reignited when UCLA and USC opted to depart the Pac-12 for the B1G.

Asked about realignment, Yormark said the Big 12 “is open for business” as the conference looks to “create momentum” for upcoming media rights negotiations. He also went on to say the Big 12 is receiving phone calls but that nothing is currently imminent in terms of the conference expanding.
