Former 4-star recruit Tommi Hill originally began his career at Arizona State, but after spending the 2021 season in Tempe, he opted to transfer to Nebraska.
While the Huskers are facing a potential make-or-break season for Scott Frost in 2022 — they are just 15-29 (10-25 B1G) in 5 seasons with him at the helm — the hope is that players like Hill can make an immediate impact on a defensive backfield that had its fair share of attrition in the offseason.
Defensive backs coach Travis Fisher is rather high on Hill, to say the least.
“He’s going to be an NFL player if he don’t mess it up,” Fisher said in a radio interview on Thursday, according to Omaha World-Herald beat writer Sam McKewon. “It’s one thing to say those types of things about kids before they actually put the work in, but just the potential I see in him — with his movement skills — he’s just got to put the total package together to be that guy.”
Those are high expectations to live up to for Hill. Only time will tell if he’ll be able to make the most of a change of scenery and meet or exceed them.
