The intrastate rivalry between Iowa and Iowa State isn’t going anywhere for now.

That news became official after the teams announced that they continued the rivalry two more years through 2023.

The Cy-Hawk series has been played since 1977 and under the current agreement, the streak will reach at least 47 straight years with a meeting. The teams will play in Iowa City on Sept. 10, 2022 and in Ames, Iowa on Sept. 9, 2023.

Though Iowa State holds a 42-22 advantage in the series, Iowa won three out of the last four meetings, including a 42-3 drubbing of the Cyclones last September.

Iowa State is currently the only Power Five team on Iowa’s future non-conference schedule.
